Dinner & Readings with Colin MacIntyre
Born and brought up in Tobermory, Colin is one of Mull’s best known faces. His musical guise is ‘Mull Historical Society’ and he has been voted Scotland’s Top Creative Talent, and is an acclaimed musician, author & playwright, selling more than one million records. Colin’s new album In My Mind There’s a Room is an exciting collaboration with literary giants: including: Sebastian Barry, Ian Rankin, Liz Lochhead, Nick Hornby, Jacqueline Wilson, Alan Warner, Jackie Kay and Val McDermid. He recorded it in Tob above the bank in his grandfather’s old flat of 45 years, the charismatic poet-come-Mull-bank manager, ‘Bard of Mull’ Angus Macintyre, and asked authors to provide lyrics on significant rooms to them that he then recorded in these significant rooms to him.
His new novel will be the first in a new ‘Mull Mysteries’ Crime Series, When the Needle Drops, and features a return to Sergeant Ivor Punch from his debut ’The Letters of Ivor Punch’, set on Mull. The new book tells of a plane and pilot have gone missing off the island and Punch is brought back from a diet of whisky and The Faces on vinyl to investigate the mystery. Over dinner, Colin will share further insight into his creative life so far, with tales from his works to date on the page.
